Bad Apples: Over 2,000 Cases of Fresh Apples Recalled After Positive Listeria Test
Late last week, Traverse City, MI-based North Bay Produce, Inc. voluntarily recalled 2,297 cases of fresh apples due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The recall affects a number of varieties including Fuji, Honeycrisp, Jonamac, Jonathan, McIntosh, and Red Delicious. The apples were sold in plastic bags under a number of brand names including Great Lakes, North Bay Produce Pure Michigan, and many were unbranded in clear plastic or white paper tote bags, and individually from retailer display trays. The apples were shipped from one North Bay Produce packinghouse between October 16-21, 2019 to wholesalers, retailers, and brokers in Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin.
