Number of Illnesses Linked to 7 Million Pound Beef Recall Doubles
The number of Salmonella illnesses associated with a recent recall of nearly 7 million pounds of raw ground beef has doubled, according to new data released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The number of reported cases has jumped from 57 to now 120, according to CDC’s October 23rd update. The number of states affected has gone from 16 to 22. There have been 33 hospitalizations and no deaths have been reported. Illnesses started on dates ranging from August 5, 2018 to September 28, 2018.
