The Food Safety Summit, the premier event for food safety professionals, has announced a dynamic education program for its 21st annual conference and trade show taking place May 6-9 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The conference program will feature sessions led by industry thought leaders; a keynote presentation by Michael Taylor, co-chair of the Stop Foodborne Illness board, and Former Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine for FDA; eight certificate/certification courses; the 7th Annual Town Hall and opportunities for community discussions.

The Summit will kick off on Monday, May 6 with eight certification and certificate courses. New for 2019 are the full 2.5 day Seafood HACCP Training, Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training and IA Conducting Vulnerability Assessments Course. The five returning course are  Professional Food Safety Auditor Training, Certified in Comprehensive Food Safety (CCFS), HACCP Training, Preventive Controls for Human Foods, and Foreign Supplier Verification. New for this year, The North Central Association of Food & Drug Officials (NC AFDO) will have their annual meeting.

The exhibit hall opens on Tuesday, May 7 from 5:00 - 7:00pm with a Welcome Reception where attendees can network with their peers, set meetings, and get a sneak peek at the variety of products on display, while enjoying delicious food and drinks. The exhibit hall is then open on Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 from 10:30 am - 2:30 pm.

One of the highlights of the exhibit hall is the Community Cafés, which were introduced on the show floor in 2018, and have expanded into a Hub and placed at the center of the exhibit hall floor for the 2019 event. The Community Hub will offer subject matter experts in the four areas of the food safety supply chain including processing/manufacturing, distribution, retail/foodservice and regulatory. During show hours, professionals from these food industry sectors will continue the conversations begun in the education sessions for 30 minute time slots in the Community Hub.

On the show floor, attendees can gain additional insight from subject matters experts during free 30-minute educational presentations at the Solution Stage. Leading industry companies including bioMerieux, Lubriplate, ScanTech Sciences, TraQtion, NSF, Eurofins, ClorDiSys Systems, SafetyChain Software, Compliance Cops, Siemens, ReposiTrak, and Mettler Toledo will present. Solution Stage presentations will be offered Wednesday May 8 and Thursday May 9.

The sprawling exhibit hall at the Food Safety Summit has proven to be an essential resource for attendees, bringing them the opportunity to meet with leading companies introducing the latest products and technologies in food safety, engage in small group discussions on the supply chain segments, attend free presentations by food safety experts, and network with peers.
