Peter J. Taormina, Ph.D. is the Founder and President of Etna Laboratories & Consulting Group. Dr. Taormina earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Food Science and Technology and Center for Food Safety, University of Georgia. He previously worked at Castellini Company, Smithfield Foods, and The Coca-Cola Company. He is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and two food microbiology books. He has written hundreds of process authority letters and overseen hundreds of challenge studies to validate the safety and quality of food and has worked in an estimated 180 food and beverage processing plants.
