Mindy Brashears is the former Under Secretary of Food Safety at the USDA and is currently is the Associate Vice President of Research at Texas Tech University. Her research focuses on mitigation strategies in pre-harvest production and post-harvest processing environments to improve food safety and public health in meat, poultry and vegetable products. She is passionate about science-based, data-driven decisions to inform policy and in utilizing data across industry, government and academia to improve public health outcomes.
