Matthew Van Natter is an Associate Director of Global Food Safety with Mars Snacking (Kellanova), producer of Pringles, M&Ms, Cheez-Its, and Skittles. Prior to joining Mars Snacking, Matt’s roles included microbiology, food safety and R&D at Cargill, Inc. Matt holds degrees in Physiology and Microbiology from Michigan State University. His current work is creating pragmatic food safety standards and policies to manage business risks including bacterial lethality modeling, food safety culture, and incident management. Matt has contributed to various organizational tools, food safety culture surveys and the Alliance to Prevent Foodborne Illness’ Food Safety Culture Toolbox, as well as patents and awards for newly developed processed foods/beverages over his 30 years in food manufacturing. Matt enjoys camping, flyfishing, playing guitar, and woodworking in his spare time.
