A2LA Accredits ALS Houston Lab Through Satellite Program
ALS, a global provider of laboratory testing services, has recently expanded their scope of accreditation to include their newest food laboratory under the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) satellite program.
This new ALS laboratory is a greenfield startup laboratory in Houston, TX, that sought accreditation by A2LA for testing. Less than 90 days after construction of this new facility was completed, A2LA granted accreditation to the Houston laboratory, enabling them to perform biological testing under the quality program from ALS’s Marshfield, WI, laboratory. A2LA has a long working relationship with ALS and, using remote assessing techniques and procedures, was able to perform the necessary technical assessment remotely and grant this accreditation. Accreditation by an impartial, third-party accreditation body such as A2LA is a critical indicator of the quality of newly produced tests and methods.
“ALS is very excited to obtain its A2LA accreditation for the molecular testing of surfaces and products in environmental sanitation programs based on rapid pathogen testing using ELISA methods. Houston is home to many large food manufacturers, food distributors, and the best restaurants in Texas.” says Scott Griggs, director of Food USA. “ALS has been a leading supplier of Salmonella and Listeria testing services in food manufacturing, distribution, and restaurants worldwide. The addition of the Houston lab is a logical extension of these established services and allows ALS to service clients beyond the food industry.”
