Recalled Peaches from U.S. Shipped to 15 Countries
According to an outbreak update published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), 16 countries—including the U.S.—have been on the receiving end of fresh peaches that were recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination.
As of August 28th, Canada, Singapore, and New Zealand have joined the U.S. in recalling peaches that were packed or supplied by Prima Wawona or Wawona Packing Company. FDA’s traceback investigation has also uncovered additional countries that the peaches were shipped to: Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, Taiwan, and the United Arab Emirates. FDA has shared distribution information directly with foreign food safety authorities in these jurisdictions.
The peaches in question were also distributed widely throughout the U.S. Retailers on the receiving end include Walmart, Target, Kroger, Ralph’s, Wegmans, ALDI, Food Lion, and others.
