Cannabis Edibles: Canada Seeking Public Comments on Safety
On October 17, 2018, the Cannabis Act went into effect in Canada for the purpose of preventing youth from accessing cannabis, and to displace the illegal cannabis market.
Now, Health Canada is collecting comments on draft regulations for cannabis products, including edibles. Public feedback is being gathered in hopes of minimizing the public health and safety risks associated with consuming cannabis-infused edibles. According to Health Canada, “These cannabis products will be permitted for legal sale under the Cannabis Act no later than October 17, 2019.”
Health Canada is encouraging comments from a variety of interested and affected groups and citizens:
