Nearly 50 Tons of Ground Beef Recalled After Sample Tests Positive for E. coli
Swift Beef Company in Hyrum, UT (a subsidiary of JBS USA) has recalled over 99,000 pounds (49 tons) of raw ground beef products due to possible Escherichia coli O157:H7 contamination, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS).
The recalled products--produced in bulk on October 24, 2018--include pallets and plastic wrapped chubs of “blue ribbon beef.” The beef shipments shipped to retail distributors for further processing, as well as to foodservice distributors for institutional use in California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
