Nestle Purina PetCare Under Scrutiny After FDA Inspection Uncovers Violations
A warning letter recently issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) alleges that Nestle Purina PetCare violated federal regulations while manufacturing dog and cat foods at the company’s Lehigh County plant located in Allentown, PA.
The “significant violations” were uncovered during a series of fall 2014 FDA inspections. Those violations included:
Nestle Purina spokesman Keith Schopp said this week that he's confident the company's products do not pose a health risk to pets. There have been no recalls associated with lapses at the plant, he said.
